At the beginning of 1930’ Emil Filla leaved cubism and focused at new shapes.
He cooperated with other artists such as František Janoušek, Rudolf Krajc, Vincenc Makovský,
František Muzika, Jindřich Štyrský, Karel Teige, Toyen, František Vobecký, Alois Wachsman with them he created a surrealist group.
The whole era of art liberty finished with the arrival of Nazi regime and Filla’s imprisonment.

With his wife he lived in Ambras Chateau near Insbruck in Austria.
